Back to School Pizza Recipe

Step 1: Gather Ingredients and Pre-Heat Oven

Almost all of the ingredients above can be found at Love Point Deli (minus the tomatoes and basil).  The image on the left features the Miyoko's Vegan Mozzarella, which is a wonderful non-dairy alternative to traditional mozzarella.  The image on the right features both the Boar's Head Fresh Mozzarella and the Boar's Head Turkey Pepperoni.  Make sure to pre-heat oven at 450 degrees before making the pizza.

Step 2: Roll Out the Dough

To properly roll out the pre-made dough, begin by cleaning off a non-stick surface.  Next, add a small amount of all-purpose white flour to the surface, to prevent the dough from sticking.  Lastly, roll out the dough to your preferred thickness with a rolling pin (a glass drinking cup will also suffice).

Step 3: Assemble Pizza

Place the rolled out dough carefully onto a flat non-stick baking pan.  Gently start to roll the sides of the dough inward, to create a crust.  Press lightly to secure the crust from opening during baking.  Next, gather toppings and begin to layer them onto the pizza starting with sauce, then cheese/pepperoni, tomatoes, and dried basil.  If using fresh basil, do not put on until the pizza is fully cooked or it will burn.

An additional tip if using the Miyoko's Vegan Mozzarella is to place cheese in the freezer for 30 minutes-1 hour prior to baking.  This will help the cheese remain firm and will make it easier to grate or crumble, since this cheese is particularly supple.

Step 4: Baking the Pizza

Once you are finished assembling the pizza, place in 450 degree oven for 8-14 minutes.  When the pizza is ready the bottom of the pizza will turn golden brown.  Option to add fresh basil once the pizza is out of the oven.  Set to cool for 10 minutes and enjoy! 🙂
